Body odors can be unpleasant and offensive. Because of the nature of the work we do as massage therapists, we are very close to you when we are working on you. Even if you plan to shower after your massage, please be considerate and arrive clean and recently showered, including washed hair. If you arrive too dirty, you may be asked to reschedule and you will be responsible for the full amount.
It is best for your hair to be dry as moisture can soak through the sheet and into the padding underneath, and also because some work will be done on the scalp, if desired. If you arrive with wet hair, you may be asked to reschedule your massage for another time when your hair is dry.
Your feet will be massaged, if desired, so it will be appreciated if, after removing your socks for your massage, you will take a few seconds to remove any sock debris that may be between toes, etc.
The force of pressure used during massage is tailored to each individuals needs. The therapist will inquire of your comfort level, but it is necessary for you to speak up if you would like more or less pressure. Too much pressure can be painful and can cause the muscles to tense up which is counterproductive of the results we are intending to obtain. And pressure that is too light is, well, annoying.
If you feel a gas bubble, by all means, let it rip. Suppressing it can cause you to be uncomfortable and unable to fully relax. Although it may breach common etiquette, it's just the two of us and I am bound by HIPPA guidelines, nobody will know. Giggles, however, may or may not be suppressed.
It is perfectly normal to fall asleep on the table while receiving a massage. In fact it may be even better because the muscles are completely relaxed and able to obtain the full benefits of the manipulation.
Full 24 hour advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment in that vacancy. If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, you will be charged half of the rate of your session.
Not showing up for your appointment, and not calling to cancel or to reschedule your appointment will be considered a no-show and you will be charged the full rate for your missed appointment.
If you arrive late, your session will be only the the time remaining from the time you arrive in order to accommodate appointments following yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, you and your therapist will discuss if there is enough time remaining to start a massage. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually provided, you will be responsible for the full session rate. Please plan accordingly and arrive early so that you can enjoy the full amount of time on the table.
